Let's talk about buffs baby....

Posted by Anonymous in , , ,

Let's talk about you and me, let's...

Oh, never mind. I never was that good at hip-hop. But I'm playing with some people who take this game seriously and they know that party members have to share all possible buffs among other members of the party. Check this out, more than 4 bars full of buffs...

You want a breakdown?

The first row is a True General Wei war buff, next is an event buff from last Saturday (yes, I saved those and haven't played this character since last Saturday), next is the Halloween event buff, then Advanced Meditation, then my Epithet, then Basic Bandits Protection.

In the second row I have a coin mall experience card, a clan Yin-Yang damage buff, and then a bunch of normal healer buffs. The healer buffs continue into the 3rd row, and the third item in that row is healer damage resistance buff (Yin and Soul I think). Next come the External Wounds resistance buff, the premium Hermit buff and a normal Hermit buff.

The 4th bar starts with the usual hybrid all attributes buff, a reflection buff and a damage reduction buff. Next is a Body and Soul damage buff from a nuker, my own 5 minute warrior damage buff (it's more popular than you can imagine. a lot of players will grind near you just for this buff) and then a damage reduction buff from a Sacred Flowers hybrid.

In the 5th bar (yeah, a 5th bar!) is a Sacred Flowers reflection buff and then my own Advanced steps buff. The last bar is the usual clan elixir buff, in this case Rage.

And you wondered why Brotherhood of Thieves warriors can kill so fast? Buffs baby, Buffs!

A chance to try Premium

Posted by Anonymous in , , ,

EDIT: As of right now this coin mall item is bugged and you shouldn't try to collect it from the coin mall. Annoying, I know. But typical of Acclaim.

If you've never had a chance to try Premium level service you're in for a treat tomorrow. Acclaim is giving away a one-day Premium pack by way of the Coin Mall to say thank you for our participation in the VGM slaughter event. I never ever considered buying premium until we had a similar gift item with one of the major patch events. I was hooked immediately.

The last time we got this gift item it was given to us directly in game. This time you'll have log into the coin mall and find it. You can log in to the coin mall while in game, or use that link I just posted. I would look first in the Premium category for the one-day gift and if it's not there, try the New or Special Category. If you've never bought anything from the coin mall you should take your time and check what items you can buy that will make your grinding a lot easier.

My two favorite items are the 90 day premium pack and of course the experience points cards that are so popular in game. The xp cards make an enormous difference in grinding time. At HM1 I get 4% per hour in normal grind. You can use the xp cards with an event and get a significant boost. A 2x event with these xp cards turns my normal grind into 16% per hour, so I can level up my SpearDriver character just about every weekend just by playing in the events.

Anyway, this post is about Premium. There are normally 3 options for premium in the coin mall and the 90 day package is by far the best deal, even if it normally costs 4000 coins. When you go to buy Acclaim coins there is a package of coins that lets you buy just exactly enough coins to buy 90 day premium. That package costs 30 eur0s, a little less than 45 US dollars and that works out to 10 euros per month, or 15 dollars for Americans. I can afford that and any teenager with a part-time job could too.

What you get with 90 day premium rocked my socks when I first started playing with it. First of all you get a 20% experience bonus even without paying for xp cards. You kill 5 mobs and you get the xp as if killed 6 mobs. That adds up quickly. The second little benefit is that your kung fu experience is 50% higher than that guy grinding next to you, if he doesn't have premium.

Check out the grinding/smash bar for my warrior. All of my smashes are leveled except the CS9 AoE smash and the CS2 Lightning smash. Those two have a long recast time so they are hard to level up. I finished everything else just by using them while grinding, and that 50% bonus to kung fu experience really helped.

One of the best bonuses in the premium packages is the Hermit Buff. I get +25 on all attributes any time I want it. It doesn't cost any more in-game gold. You can get it from any Hermit in any village and it lasts 2 hours. You also get a boost to damage, critical damage, and Chi Kung defense.

The last two items aren't that useful for me. I can change epithet whenever I want but I hardly ever do, so that's not a really big deal. And I lose less experience for reviving, but I really don't die very often. I play by the rules. You get some nice products with the package too. You get a small stack each of Korean Ginsengs, Etheral Mushrooms, Roars, Panaceas that bring you back to life for free, 2x drop cards and 2x xp cards.

I don't want to make this sound like a commercial for Acclaim, but as I said this costs me about 10 euros per month and it is worth it to me. I couldn't imagine trying to play at these levels without my premium package. Like I said, you'll get a chance to try it for one day tomorrow, so don't forget to log in to the coin mall and get your gift item.

And if you did buy something from the coin mall, what did you buy?

The nuker role, and my build

Posted by Anonymous in , , ,

When I first started playing this game I looked at the roles and how people were playing them. I was pretty much certain that the nuker character was not for me. I have more of a warriors mentality and I stand in there and tank the mobs until they die. They die, not me. I play by the rules

We've all seen how nukers grind. They shoot once and then run around in crazy little circles, trying to not get hit. Fortunately nukers do A LOT OF DAMAGE, so they can kill mobs in 3 or 4 shots. It seems fair to me that they have to run around a little bit if they can kill things so fast.

A nuker character is probably not the best character to start with in this game. In order to grind them well you'll need to have the best equipment you can get, defense clothes and refined bracers in particular. Those are the bracers I'm using at the moment. You will also need to know where the mobs are that you can grind. A nuker needs slow moving mobs that don't gang up, and there aren't many of those in game. Some mobs get particularly aggravated when you nuke them (bears hate nukers...), and you'll need some place to run to in order to meditate. Casting nukes uses a lot of Vital Energy and you'll need to keep some in reserve in case you need to run from your mobs. You always need someplace to run to.

The fastest way to make a nuker is to start with a warrior. You can change roles up to RL12 and that is what I did with my old farmer/collector character RandiDance. If it's not your first character and you have a pile of good equipment you can get to RL12 in about a week of good grinding. You work your way up to RL12 with 100% and it's time to Chi Breath, then just stop. You go back to your clan map and change roles, then do the Chi Breathing trick. Like magic, you'll have an FD1 nuker and you'll need a lot of manuals to do the training.

Yes, you will have to do an awful lot of training. My training habits for my nuker were exactly the same as what I did for my hybrid character. Most of the skills have a level cap, so I trained all of them up to their level cap, and then I went out to play the game. Once I gained another level, I went back to training. It's boring as hell, but it works. If you do that training you'll have a character that is damned easy to play. Let me show you my buff bar.

1. Advanced Lightfoot
2. Advanced Meditation
3. Advanced Steps
4. Basic Bandit Protection (50 points of defense)
5. Nuker Defense Buff (390 points of defense)
6. Wisdom Buff (+31 Wisdom)
7. Chi Shield (resists 765 points of physical damage)
8. VE Shield (Absorbs 1800 damage, but costs 2x Vital Energy)
9. Nuker Reflection Buff (returns 80% of damage, but only for 15 seconds)
10. Yang Shield (Absorbs 1650 Yang damage, great for PvP)

The only skill that is really hard to train is the VE shield, but it saves your life so it's worth to train. I have C11 on that skill now and I'm not going to to train it any farther. I use it all the time, so eventually it will level up.

As for my build, I started with the ideas that XiaoLongNu posted in a very old post. Some players will suggest that you only need enough Essence for your weapon, but he suggested one attribute point per level, and that is what I did. More points in essence gives you more vital energy (longer grinding time), and also increases your Chi Kung damage. The rest of your attribute points will be thrown at Wisdom in order to increase your Chi Kung Attack Rating. I added some points to Constitution and Strength because the warrior in me just cannot stand to look at a character with only 1200 hit points. The extra strength increased my defense number and now fully buffed I have about 3300 hit points and 2200 defense. My inner warrior is satisfied with that.

I just reached Golden Blossoms 5 with my nuker and I have finally maxed my Wisdom attribute. For now I'll continue to add essence, and I'll have to make a few decisions about my build when I get to EC6 levels, when the maximum for attributes is raised to 300 points.

Do you have a nuker? How did you manage your build?

AoE Smashes

Posted by Anonymous in ,

A couple of people have asked about the AoE, or Area of Affect smash. You get these skills at CS 9 and for nukers in particular it is spectacularly effective when you're getting ganged by the mobs. They also do a spectacular amount of damage, so it's only fitting that the graphic is pretty spectacular too.

The only downside to these skills is that they are very slow to level up and they cost a lot of VE to use. I'm using manuals constantly while grinding just to level this one up. The warrior smash isn't quite as useful as what the nukers get, but that's pretty much normal in this game. The warrior smash is very short range and only in the forward direction, but still, at C4 only one of my other smashes does more damage than this one so I'm trying hard to level it up.

Who else wants to post some screen shots?

LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY

Posted by Cappricio in , , , , ,

Hello all,

Yesterday I purchased my first few weapon ornaments from the black market in CC3. You know how some people spend 100's of kk just to find something decent and get S**T.

Well i was lucky,

1st buy = 250yang dmg, evaluated at 10kk

2nd buy = 4/1000HP return, evaluated at 150kk-250kk

3rd buy = +5 wisdom, evaluated at 1kk

4th buy = 4/1000HP return, evaluated at 150kk-250kk

I kept buying while my lucky was up but after that i got SH*T.

Hehe, yes i am planning on selling. Whisper Bardonian for offers. So i slept well last night. Sorry Red i am not trying to show off and get you angry.

=(^,.,^)=

What was your luck?

Edit: Was worth a bit when first came out now, 4/1000hp is estimated at 66kk-150kk lucky i got rid of mine for 150kk each, so i had some gold and i had a fortune... until i went to hefei ~_~. I may make a post about YYBS although i am still learning about them. I am using in some weaps they make cool glows upon hits and deal more dmg so if u got the cash i say buy some, i have an estiamte around prices but not 100% sure yet for now if i want i go CC3 >.>

List of useful skill books

Posted by RedCross in , ,

Many players have been asking about book prices and what do the books really do, so we've put this post together so that you can decide that are they really worth, if you are buying or selling. This list of prices is a lot like our bigger price list and prices will change over time.

Most of the books in Hefei are useless active skills or smashes that players can buy from the base map. If the description of a book includes the words "For 2nd Role", it is worthless. At the top of each clan/role list are the rare and most demanded books, then in gray are all secondary books for skills that are up to you to train.

Wu Tang and Heavenly Demon books are the most expensive and the books for the other 4 clans are usually 20-40% cheaper and Sacred Flower books can be hard to sell. Fast heals and hybrid buffs are most profitable, if you happen to get one as a drop. Some books can be used by several other roles too: fast heal works for healer and hybrid, wis buff for healer and nuker, and stun for warrior, healer and hybrid.

There are 2 different level of books: Lost Holy book (completes c10) and Disappeared Tome (completes c11). C10 and C11 book prices are very close to each other but C11 should be a bit higher. Be lucky to get your books cheaper than on the list prices :)

Healer: str/dex buff (5-7kk), con/ess buff (4-6kk), wis buff (5-7kk), def buff (3-5kk), fast heal (10-20kk)

Hybrid: all attributes buff (10-20kk), con/def/dmg (8-12kk), fast heal (10-20kk)

Nuker: wis buff (10-15kk), def self buff (4-8kk), chi shield (6-10kk), ve shield (6-10kk), gb shield (6-10kk)

Warrior: dmg buff (3-5kk)

Cyclonic Lightning

Posted by Anonymous in ,

I just got this new smash at CS 1 and I finally got a good screen shot of it. It's fast, so it's not the easiest skill to get a screen shot on. The first time I used it I was like, "WOW!!!".

Basically, the mob gets struck by lightning and takes A LOT of damage and it's only up to c2 so far. This skill is hard to level up though. I really can't wait to get it to see what it does at c10, so I'm using it constantly. Have a look at the bigger image. Isn't that just the coolest skill you've ever seen?

Reflection Art

Posted by Anonymous in ,

One of the nice things about playing out of Linbei on the Hangzhou map is that you can meet some really high level players there. There are a number of quests and dungeons that start in that village so players from both white and black clans can meet there in peace.

If you ask nicely for buffs, you never know quite what you might get, and I've just got to show you this one! Last night some guy hit me with a 12% reflection art buff. That is seriously impressive. My own hybrid reflection art is only 9%, and it's not very often I see one higher than that.

12%!

I buffed him back of course, and then hit myself with my own stuff. I've got the usual BoT clan epithet, and that's worth 3% reflection, and a couple of my relics also give a couple percentage points of reflection. In total I had at least 25% of damage reflection going on, and for a few minutes I was a One Man Wrecking Crew!

Advanced Skill Books

Cheng 11 and 12 skill upgrades

As we have noticed, monsters has started to drop all kind of colorful books. There are 2 type of books and they are

  • Lost Holy Book of *clan name*
  • Disapeared Tome of *clan name*
..but there is something different on them. First of all, some books (c11 and c12 smashes/nukes) can be bought from Clan Base (skill trainer -person) and some are only available as drops (buffs etc). Do not buy books from other players that description says "For 2nd role upgrade", because those are the ones that you can buy from base map.. with cheap price.

Books without those extra requirements are rare and will sell well with price of many millions
. Each type of book requires either maxed c10 or c11 with 100% exp. To use these, you must be in peace-mode and read them as normal tomes.

On next picture shows 2 types of books and each are different versions

Book without multiple requirements
- *on example there is C11 skill (Lost Holy Book)
- only available as drops
- can be read whenever skill is maxed
- price 500k-3kk ea

Books with multiple requirements
- *on example there is C12 skill (Disappeared Tome)
- can be got as drop
- available from Clan Base
- only readable after EC8+
- price 50-100k ea

PS. -Its possible to upgrade your Lightfoot to C11, this tome is available only from GB4-5 quest.

Cheng 11 and 12

Posted by Anonymous in ,

One of the most common additions that we're hearing about this new patch is the addition of C11 and 12 levels for skills. Apparently we'll be getting manuals for these levels too, dropped in the game. As is usual with Acclaim, they didn't tell us where these manuals are going to drop. We're supposed to guess?

I want to remind everyone that it might be worthwhile to dig up a couple of VE Recovery items so that you can level your Meditation and Steps skills overnight, just as I described in a previous post. I probably won't even grind much with my characters until that is done.

(Edit: Nope. So far none of Meditation, Steps, or Basic Protection can be pushed to C11 or 12)

I most certainly wont be grinding with SpearDriver until I've gotten his current weapon refined to at least +6, which shouldn't be too difficult with the new refinement insurance system that is coming. That might cost me a few real-world dollars, but I'm sick and tired of losing weapons in the game.
