Random Talking Shit

Posted by Anonymous in , , , ,

Over the weekend the tone on the G1 forums got downright dark. The Forum-Nazis came out in strength and started a lock/delete/ban march that was not quite like anything I've seen yet. Late last week Hyperion started a thread that gives the current information on the old character database, and then he locked it. He actually expects that people will read that post and never comment on the situation ever again. He doesn't know this community very well.

We want our characters back, dammit.

And why do people keep asking me when we're getting our characters back? If I knew, I would post it here, so quit asking me. Ask Hyperion. He likes your questions.

The other sore spot over the weekend was the 1.2x skill xp event. The G1 people had the nerve to call that event a 5x event, even though we used to have permanent 4x for skills from AKK-lame. Of course if you brought that up on the forum, the Forum-Nazis had the perfect excuse to treat you like the bug you are. STOMP!!!

Otherwise we did have 5x rates for experience and quite a number of no-life grinders used that as the perfect excuse to stay in the basement for the weekend. Pizza delivery dudes must have made a fortune.

How come there are no pizza delivery dudettes?

I only made it to FD2 because I took some time off to try to sell some shit, and I tried to get anything I could from Knife of White Shadows. I must have killed that dude over 25 times and I still didn't get the dodge trink from him. Drop Rates Suck.

Speaking of drop rates, my FD2 character is still using an RC10 spear because nothing else has dropped. How pathetic is that?

I'm still trying to get my Wan Daye RL4 spear and this economy is so wucking funderful that it's impossible to sell anything. The Restart Retards who promised that we would all start out with an economy that was somehow "fixed" actually gave us an economy that is castrated. Some of them are actually complaining that BE prices are all the way up to 300k already. Of course they are. It's the only thing that sells and you need 5 of them PLUS 2.5 million gold to make a WD RL4 weapon.

Of course a part of the blame for this economy can be handed to the morons who refuse to pick up their drops. How freaking hard is it to tap the space bar a couple times after every kill? Gold doesn't grow on trees in this game, it lands on the ground in front of you. Pick it up, for funderful sakes! You'll pick up weapons that you can NPC for 2k gold. Did you know that a stack of bear skins is worth 8k?

The only way we're going to get a useful amount of gold into the game is if everyone turns their drops into gold, so quit being so wucking stupid about it.

It's our turn to have a rant and G1 won't let us rant on their forum. Aren't you glad there are no Forum-Nazis here? Get your rant on people. The most creative rant will get 1 golden thread from me. Sorry I'm being so cheap, but it is a castrated economy after all.

All I ask is that you keep the rants absolutely truthful.

How much is enough?

Posted by Anonymous in , , ,

Well, that depends on what you're offering me, but I was planning to talk about hit point return ornaments today.

I've been running around with an ultranoob spear for a while now. It's an LM6 Hermit spear with 4 slots and I had 26/1k HP return just on the spear. That was a pair of the 7/1k promotional ornaments and another pair of 6/1k ornaments from the black market in the Cave of the Conqueror. I also have an HP trinket and while I was running SRS I often used the [Unsealed] Silver Spirit epithet that also gives HP return. That combination is about the only thing that kept me alive while I was killing Hiyamis.

I finished that job though and I now have the [Unsealed] Conqueror of North Sea epithet. Let me tell you, for a warrior this is a nice epithet. It gives a 10% critical hit chance and increases critical damage by 7%, and best of all, it also has HP return. The description says it gives 4/1k HP return but many will tell you it's only 3/1k return. I don't know, I haven't done any science on it yet.

I was comparing notes with another high level warrior and he gave me a few ideas on how I can get more damage from the equipment. For normal grind I simply don't need 32/1k HP return. I mean, that's really noobish. You could even add a couple of "reallys" to that.

I spent some time shopping in Hefei and picked up a couple of perfect critical hit rate ornaments, and a Brotherhood of Thieves Wild Tower jacket. You know, the one that makes you look like a Peking Duck? I'm certain that clothing set alone is the reason there are permanent decos in the game. Anyway, that jacket does at least give you an extra 5% damage on critical hits.

I took out the two 6/1k ornaments and replaced them with the critical hit rate ornaments. I put on the jacket, reloaded the relics and went out to grind. So that's a 30% critical hit rate and 12% critical damage. I can't say the grind is a lot faster now, but I can see that I do more damage and I get a lot more critical hits. It's nice when an idea works out.

What are you doing to get maximum damage, and a faster grind?

Reminder-"Scale Sellers"

Posted by Cappricio in , , ,

How a selling Dragon Scales work.
If you wish to purchase a Dragon Scale you need to find a seller, hopefully this is someone you know and trust. Dragon Scales are worth about 50kk each on Bardo.
Basically since these scales aren't tradeable you will need to hand your weapon over to them to apply for you, and you are to pay after the scale is applied.

Simple as that, unfortunately this is not always the case, over and over again we hear about people who "Sell" scales.

Instead of applying the scale and trading the weapon back they will take the weapon and keep it. These accounts will become blocked as soon as Acclaim gets word of the situation.
If this happens to you report to: 9dsupport@acclaim.com

If this unfortunate event does happen to you, I'm afraid you will NOT get your weapon back due to the Rules of Conduct: http://www.acclaim.com/rules_of_conduct.html

Hacked Accounts: We can and will help recover the account, but we will be unable to return lost items and in-game currency. It is your responsibility to keep your password safe. (This will apply to "Scamming scale sellers" too.

Words of wisdom from the VGM himself, heed them:
*[20:54] <@[VGM]Nitro> Trading for scales is like refining with no hardness. There's a chance of never coming back.

While we're on the subject I'd like to remind you of the Disconnect Hero League Rules!
http://dc9d.blogspot.com/2009/06/dont-get-hacked.html READ IT!

Watch out for these Scale Sellers, buy them from people you know and trust.
N.B. Not all high levels can be trusted, some accounts may be hacked and be using the player's character to get at your goods.

You've been warned!

Guide for Separators and Cutters I: One slot

Posted by RedCross in , , ,

You can also add slots and cut weapon levels on certain weapons but Indy21 and Acclaim didn't make this process quite as simple as they could have. Someone must have the idea that "complicated is better", and I'm going to try to make this as simple as possible.

First of all there are a couple of annoying rules. You can only add slots or cut levels on the [NEW] or Bloody Dragon weapons. Slots cannot be added to the usual collection of weapons and you can't cut them down a few levels either. And worst of all, you cannot add slots or cut weapon levels on a weapon that is already refined.

I find that so annoying.

The problem is that the [NEW] and Bloody Dragon weapons count as colored weapons and those have a much lower refining success rate. Slotted weapons also have a lower refining success rate and the combination of the two; colored and slotted, well let's just say that your refining success rates are pathetic.

Are you listening Acclaim?

[NEW] and Bloody Dragon weapons without slots are a fairly common drop in the game. The only trouble I have is to get a weapon that is usable by my characters; spears, axes, or bracers. I always seem to get daggers, polearms, and occasionally gloves. You can normally spam the map chat during an event to get what you're looking for. Usually someone in your own party will get what you're looking for, and hopefully they'll just give it to you. A weapon without slots isn't worth much.

It is simple to add a slot and cut levels on non-slotted, non-refined [NEW] or Bloody Dragon weapons, but here is where it gets more complicated than it has to be. You have to "add a slot" and "cut levels" at the same damned time.

Here is how it works:

You add the slot with a Bronze Separator and that too is a fairly common drop in the game, for now. I'm saving my drops in case we get the golden thread treatment, and these drops disappear.

You can cut 4 levels from a weapon with a Narrow Groove Cutter which can be bought from the General Store NPC in Hefei.

You can cut 8 levels from a weapon with a Double Groove Cutter which is a fairly common drop in the game, for now. Again, I'm saving my drops in case we get the golden thread treatment, and these drops disappear.

It is also possible to cut a weapon 12 levels, but it costs a Blood Essence. If you have both of a Narrow Groove Cutter and a Double Groove Cutter and one Blood Essence, you can take them to the Craft Merchant NPC (beside Wan Daye) and trade those items for a Triple Groove Cutter which will allow you to cut your weapon down 12 levels all at once.

You take your non-slotted and unrefined [NEW] or Bloody Dragon weapon to any Blacksmith in any village. For some reason Hefei doesn't have a blacksmith so I usually run back to my clan map. Talk to the blacksmith and "combine" your weapon by adding the weapon, the bronze separator and the cutter of your choice. You'll pay the Blacksmith 400,000 gold for this and what you get back is a [NEW] or Bloody Dragon weapon with one slot. The Refining Bitch will be happy to break it for you.

I went through this process recently in order to build a new Axe for my hybrid character. I bought or picked up 4 of the GL12 Bloody Dragon Kunwu Axes and made all of them into CS12 one slot weapons. I took them to the Refining Bitch and she quite happily broke two of them at +4, once of them at +5 and the last one is now +6. I didn't use dragon scales on these so this didn't cost me any real world money. I'll need this weapon when I move this character to the Ice Map and +6 with an HP ornament should be enough to take on the reindeer. We'll see.

Guide for Separators and Cutters II: Many Slots

Posted by Anonymous in , , ,

This guide shows you various ways to make certain many slotted weapons: 2, 3 or 4 slotted BD or [new] weapons. Keep in mind, before you use the jade separators on a weapon you must first "combine" that weapon, using a Bronze Separator and the cutter of your choice. That is far more complicated than it needs to be.

2 slotted BD or [new] weapon
- free: 2 slotted weapon as a rare drop
- $: you can make a 2 slotted weapon by using one iron separator (560 acclaim coins) on a non-slotted and unrefined weapon.

3 slotted BD or [new] weapon
- free: hermit weapon with 3 slots as a rare drop
- $: use jade separator on 2 slotted weapon (770 acclaim coins)
- $: use first iron separator and then one jade separator on non-slotted new weapon (1330 coins)

4 slotted BD or [new] weapon
- free: unfortunately there is no way to get any 4 slotted weapon as free from any drop
- $: use one jade separator on hermit weapon (previous slots + 770 acclaim coins)
- $: use one jade on 3 slotted new weapon (previous slots + 770 acclaim coins)
- $: use two jades on 2 slotted new weapon (previous slots + 1540 acclaim coins)

As you have noticed, you cannot get those slots without involving with item mall, well unless you get a hermit weapon drop. It is possible to let other people to add slots to your weapon, as well as scales (around 60kk) and tears (50kk). There is a high risk to lose that weapon forever to a scammer. Acclaim will not get it back for you.

It costs 2100 acclaim coins to make a non-slotted new weapon into a 4 slotted (iron+jade+jade) and you would be foolish to spend that much money and not protect the weapon with scales and tears. 4 slotted weapons are not cheap to make.

The next section explains gives a simple description of the required items.

Bronze separator makes any new weapon into a 1 slotted weapon, even if if already has 1 or 2 slots. worthless item if you are planning to have more than 1 self made slots. requires also to use any kind of cutter.

Iron separator (560 acclaim coins) makes any new weapon into a 2 slotted weapon, even if it already has 1 or 2 slots. requires also to use any kind of cutter.

Jade separator (770 acclaim coins) adds one slot into a new weapon, weapon needs at least one slot to get this working. can be use without a cutter.

Narrow hermit cutter reduces a hermit weapon by 4 levels can be bough from npc

Double hermit cutter reduces a hermit weapon by 8 levels, very rare drop

Narrow groove cutter reduces any new weapon by 4 levels can be bough from npc

Double groove cutter reduces any new weapon by 8 levels, very rare drop

Triple groove cutter reduces any new weapon by 12 levels, requires to complete a collection. collection requires one Blood Essence, one narrow groove cutter and one double groove cutter

Epic Fail (again)

Posted by Anonymous in , ,

Ok, I got one good weapon today, a WD GB level Bracers that are now +7 still with full hardness. That is the sort of thing I would expect when spending real world money on refining materials or anything else from the coin mall. I'll post that image soon when I talk about the build I'm using on my nuker.

For now I want to rant about a spear that I had high hopes for. That spear to the left is only +4, despite the fact that I spent over 40 euros worth of coins to make it a 3 slot weapon and protect it with scales. I even got goodgrrrl to do the refining for me because she has maxed the 5% refining mastery. That spear failed 3 times in a row at +5!

We can talk about Acclaim customer service, but this comes down to customer experience, and who in the right mind is going to spend real money for this sort of random epic fail? That spear is absolutely worthless and I'm not going to spend more money on it. I don't know who would.

Something has to be done about the refinement rates in this game, particularly if Acclaim expects that we should spend money on unrefined weapons. The other option is to make that jade separator usable on refined weapons.

Future for slots

Posted by RedCross in , ,

Just heard from Head GM that there will soon come items to increase slots up to 3 and 4, also he said that they will work also for refined weapons, so dont sell yet your precious highly refined slotless weapon before this future patch.

i personally have a +10 hermit weapon which doesnt have slots, Head GM said that they are normal. so im just waiting to increase slots amount to 4.... and it will rock my socks up :)

ps. forums are down due to full maintenance, they are switching harddisks and updating forum-systems into newer more stabile version.

Bronze Separator

Posted by Anonymous in ,

This thing is without a doubt the most useless item that I've seen in this game. Just for starters the description is wrong. You can't use this thing to "create an attachment space", or as we usually say, "a slot".

It can only be used on a selected few weapons, the New or Blood Dragon weapons, and only when those weapons are not already refined, and if that weapon already has a couple of slots, you get a weapon back with only one slot.

This could be such a great item, even if it was a really rare drop. We all have a favorite weapon, and we would all love to add slots, particularly now that we've got some useful ornaments that could be attached. But no, that might be useful and fun, so Acclaim isn't going let us do that.

Slotted Items From Collections?

I thought they didnt exist, but now i find proof it exists, if anyone got def clothes slotted, PM me ;)

GL HF, just an update.
P.S. Sorry white league, i am not a very good master as i am Pro Noob and Noob Pro -.-, anyway i try to sort the white parts to this blog asap. I am busy with exams right now...

new weapons

Posted by Anonymous in , , ,

It was a few months ago that goodgrrrl wrote a very good article about the "all attributes weapons" collection, and I thought I would bring up the topic again because we're getting a few more players in this range. There are have been a few changes since then too, and the collections don't give you the same weapons they used to give.

That article is highly recommended reading if you are high SM or GB levels, or higher. You're going to get a lot of weapons drops over the next little while and they are valuable. Even if you don't make all the weapons collections, other players may not get the weapon they need so yours will be sellable.

What you basically need to know is that a GB 12 Blood Dragon weapon can be used to make the "all attributes" weapons. These are EC 6 crit/bleed/disorientation weapons. At the time this collection came out you used to get an FC level weapon, as it says in goodgrrrl's post. Right now an all attributes weapon is EC level.

The one exception in this collection is the all attributes bracers which need the EC 6 BD Bracers and not the GB 12 BD Bracers, like you might expect. I don't know why there is an exception for the bracers.

This works out really well for us because with the second role there are new skills available that come with the second role and I like the idea of having a new weapon to work with. As I mentioned recently, my AxeDriver character is currently using a spear because that is the best weapon I have in my collection. He's going back to an Axe, a critical hit Axe, just as soon as he gets to EC 6 and gets that 2nd role and the new skills.

The good news is that the party doesn't stop here. You need to collect all of the EC 6 BD weapons, because you'll be able to make an FC 6 "Colorful Flowers" weapon. You'll have the same choices of crit/bleed/disorientation for your weapon and again even if you don't make that collection, the EC 6 BD weps are selling well.

This party just keeps rolling! You should collect all of the EC 12 BD weps in order to make your own CS 6 crit/bleed/disorient weapons. Usually you only make these for your own characters because they are traded at the clothing seller inside the clan base. The number of flowstones needed to make the CS is very high and I had to go buy a whole bunch in order to make a CS 6 15% crit spear for SpearDriver. I was a little bit disappointed to find out that even though it is CS level, it does less damage than my +9 WD GB spear.

After this I can only guess because I don't have the trade yet, but I am told that fc 12, cs 12, and gl 12 are used in trades as well.

Patch 77 - New Weapons

Posted by Anonymous in , , ,

I just got a good screen shot of one of the new rare weapons that we're going to see more of in the future. BluFlash has tried to tell us that these weapons are going to be rare weapons but my feeling is that because they have three slots, or four slots, nobody in their right mind is ever going to sell them back to the NPC, at least until they become a fairly common weapon.

There are a few crit hit ornaments floating around in the game that cannot yet be attached to a weapon. They are 5% crit hit bars, and you can see them for sale in Hefei once in while. We got them by mistake a few patches ago because they are a common item in the Asian versions of this game. Right now we can't attach them to a weapon, but the people who have them will still try to sell them to you, hoping that you are the bigger noob. It might be worth to collect them if you can get them cheap. I would love to have a 3-slot Hermit Axe for my hyb character.

As for my warrior, I'm still trying to find a new and better weapon for SpearDriver and I can't find anything better than what I've already got. This WD GB weapon is a +8 weapon and does far more damage than a similar Humble Master weapon. It is also the last HP return weapon in the game, and as a warrior I really need that HP return. I have a scale on this spear and I can use a Dragon's Tear too, to add hardness.

Unless I find something better, I'm going to be using this spear for a long time to come, and sooner or later I'm going to have to try to refine it again. Wish me luck.

What weapon are you using, and what are you planning?

- SpearDriver

Now what weapon?

Posted by Anonymous in , ,

I've been just fascinated with the weapons in this game. When I first started playing I remember changing to a new spear pretty much every time I got one. I saved them all too, so it didn't take long until my courier account was full with +2/3 spears. Since then I've learned that I really don't need to change weapons quite that often, and a really good weapon will actually last you a long time.

All three of my characters have a Wan Daye weapon, but all three of them are having to play with them for a long time. A good example is my AxeDriver character. He has been carrying around a WD RL +5 Axe. That character is now SM10 and he's using a weapon that is 28 levels lower. It's a great weapon for use against RL and FD level mobs, but I'm now at the point where it just doesn't do enough damage against high SM level mobs. So it's time for a new Axe.

I have already made an EC level 15% critical hit weapon for AxeDriver, but he can't really use that yet. He can't use that weapon for another almost 20 levels. So, it's time to go shopping.

Have you ever noticed that there aren't a lot of axes for sale in Hefei? Me neither, until yesterday when I went looking for one. So, now what? I could make a 10% crit hit merchant's weapon but that would cost me a lot of flowstone, and I'm trying to save those for a replacement spear for SpearDriver.

And then it occured to me that AxeDriver doesn't actually need an axe. He's in the Brotherhood of Thieves, and they all know how to use a spear. It just so happens that I got an SM level spear as a drop yesterday too, so I refined it to +3. I went to check at the clan base to make sure I had all the spear skills, and then went off to grind. And it worked!

It took about an hour to level that new active skill to c6, but at that point I was doing more damage with the new spear, than I was doing with the old Axe. Even better, when AxeDriver gets to GB4 he's going to get to play with SpearDriver's main weapon, a WD GB +8 Spear. That spear does an insane amount of damage and should be more than enough to help me level up to the EC levels, where there is a good axe just waiting to be used.

To make a long story short, it cost me 1 BE to get a better weapon for AxeDriver, and I'm not going to have to spend anything more for weapons for that character, for a really long time to come.

So, who want's to buy a WD RL +5 Axe, with one scale on it, and hardness increase is possible?

Rumors

Posted by Anonymous in , , ,

I like to leave the 9Dragons IRC channel open on my laptop while I play. Even if I don't chat much, I get the chance to see what the GM/VGM's are thinking, or talking about. Regular contact with the GM's has helped us a few times and it's a habit I'm going to continue with. One of the better parts about listening in to their conversations is the rumors and hints that I see, and let me share a few of them with you.

There will be a Euro-zone PvP server in the near future. Acclaim is only waiting on a multi-language advertising deal before they go ahead with this.

BluFlash is looking for translators for the Turkish language. Apparently it's the last major translation project in the game.

There will be new dungeons, on the Icy map no less.

There are some new weapons coming, with some new attributes. I've already seen 3-slot weapons and I'm sure there are now 4 slot weapons out there too. The next round will see high critical hit percentages too.

For you PvP players, the dungeons will start dropping CK defense clothes that are even better than the current set of WD 4 pocket clothes. I suspect they'll only be useful for PvP, because the current stuff is pretty good for PvE. I would love to have more details on this.

And lastly, you'll soon be able to trade coin mall items in-game. We knew that was coming though.

With all these new ideas my suggestions are simple. Start hording BE again, because with a new set of weapons to play with, many players will start the refining craziness again. And start collecting dungeon passes too, so we can all get a set of the new CK def clothes.

The next Patch

Posted by Anonymous in , ,

I'm downloading the next patch now, and it's a big one. Let's hope there are a few new treats in it for players, and not just the removal of the Santa Suits. Although I have to say, I already miss mine...

There was a statement from BluFlash in the IRC channel a few nights ago that there would be a new dungeon "soon". Maybe this is it?

Let's use this post to keep each other updated if you find something new.

- Update: So far the only real "flaw" that I've found is the reset on the weapons that I pretty much knew was going to happen anyway. Moderator SmoothRu posted a while ago that the "new" weapons would have some changes in the near future. Well, we got those changes and unfortunately a number of our weapons got nerfed.

Many of the "new" weapons were badly downgraded and anyone who paid for scales/tears and refinement is probably sitting there with a weapon that is far below their current needs. My Master's Spear went from FC6 to EC6, and my WD GB refined spear is better than that, no matter what. I'm sure many of you can provide some pretty good examples.

I doubt there will be any compensation for any of this from Acclaim, after all Acclaim didn't make the mistakes in the game. Indy21 is responsible for mixing up the various versions of a multi-line game that they are producing, and there is no chance that they are going to come to the public and admit that.

Still, with a little bit of process management and product testing, Acclaim could do a lot to keep their reputation as a game publisher intact.

Does anyone see any other flaws in this patch? Does anyone see an improvement?

Wan Daye's All Attributes Weapon

Posted by goodgrrrl in , ,

I'm going to make quick guide for you all who have been wondering what is that mysterious WD all attributes weapon. That kind of collections appears around Elemental Crown levels and last one at the moment comes at Little Master levels. So it's possible to make EC, FC, CS, GL, HM and LM critical weapon collection :)

As i made a Spear so all guide is about spears. You see collection here:

1. To make that weapon you need RC 9 1000/1000 critical spear, GB 11 Blood Dragon Twin-hooked Spear and 5 pieces of Steel. Blood Dragon spear and steel pieces come as a drop while grinding. You have to make critical spear by yourself.

2. To make Critical spear you have to visit Smithy and to choose right weapon from there. I visited Xuanshe Smithy and bought RC 9 spear in this case.

3. Then you have to go to Death Valley in Shi Zhang and meet the Merchant there. Make 5 middle level Flowstones from 45 low level Flowstones first.

4. Then make the Critical weapon and put it to the collection.

5. Next run to the Hefei and meet Wan Daye. He lets you to choose between 3 weapons. I chose 1500/10000 Critical Spear. Weapon level is EC 6.

That's how it goes. I hope it's clear enough.

Selling Weapons

Posted by Anonymous in ,

At the level I'm playing (mid-FD) the only way you can get a new weapon is from a drop or a quest, or a Wan Daye trade. As you can imagine, I'm getting a lot of weapons drops and unless they are something special, they are hard to sell.

Yesterday I got a two slot FD8 spear that I sold for 500k. You know that guy didn't have a Wan Daye weapon. I've sold blue and green weapons for as much 100k, but otherwise most of my weapons drops go back to the general store. If you take them back to the general store on your home map you get 10% more gold for them. I usually save them up, then make a big run. These FD weapons are usually worth about 20k each, so it's worth the run if you have a few.

I also sold my Wan Daye RL4 +4 spear yesterday. These are actually fairly easy to sell but you have to be realistic about it. It's like selling a car. You aren't going to get back the money you paid for it when it was new. To get that spear new you have to trade 5 Blood Essences and 1 each of the level 2 non-dungeon elixirs. At +4 I invested another 3 Blood Essences into that weapon. With BE trading at around 700k, I had about 5.6kk invested in the weapon, not including the elixirs. You can forget the value of those elixirs. They are gone.

Yesterday I saw a roar from a guy wanting to buy one of these so I whispered him. He asked, "how much", and I asked for 4kk. He offered 7 BE, and I took it. The lesson is, so long as you're not asking silly prices you can get back a lot of what you have invested in some very good equipment.
