Patch 15

Posted by Anonymous in , ,

This one caught me by surprise. We all knew it was coming, but I wasn't expecting our Chinese New Year event until tomorrow. Indy21 rarely works this quickly to sort out problems. Maybe this is a sign of things to come? We can hope...

First of all, there is a hat which is sort of nice. That has always been a fun part of the calendar events. Well, fireworks were always pretty cool too, but good clothing items have always been a nice change from the usual. However, this one is sort of bjorked and is a lot more work than usual.

I stayed with the German language text file for this one because you get a windgram quest to start the whole thing. The quest starts in Hefei with the general goods merchant close to Wan Daye. You get sent to the Girl with the Rabbit Hat, who looks suspiciously like Little Wind from the Brotherhood of Thieves clan map. There are jade cases popping up in Hefei and most don't contain very much, which doesn't really help, but you can get a couple of items from them that will get you a constitution pill from the Girl with the Rabbit Hat.

After that you go out and grind like usual. You'll get drops of "dried rice". That's the translation from German anyway. I haven't tried the English text file yet. You take those dried rice droppings (eww...) back to the Girl with the Rabbit hat and trade them for "secret rice cakes". When you have one of each rice cake you'll get the next quest for the hat.

When you have one each of the 5 rice cakes you'll get another windgram. If you're using the English text file the windgram is empty. Take your 5 rice cakes back to your clan map. You'll get your hat from the clan leader. It's not a bad item for lowbie characters, but not all that useful if you've made it to 2nd role, and you're wearing that clothing set.

The hat give 10% speed (so does the 2nd role set), 10% critical hit rate, and 10 dex. What it doesn't give is VE return and that is far more useful for real grinding. So the hat is probably not too bad for PvP, but that's about it at least for high level players.

I wonder what these rice cakes are worth to sell?

Late night information

Posted by Anonymous in , , ,

I wasn't sleeping very well last night so around 3:30 in the morning I got up to play for a while. I got to chat with a few of the really high level players on the German server and I got some interesting bits of information.

First of all the current level cap is Flower Crown 3, but not because of some sort of artificial limit. There are no more mobs after that level, and yes there are a couple of people at that level already. They have very little to do. They can run the Wild Tower dungeon for loot from each room, but they can't even come close to finishing it. They can also run the Choice of Fate and Valley of Hell dungeons, but the bosses don't drop very much because of the level difference.

Lastly, they can camp bosses, and they've been doing that, basically milking the HP and Def Trink bosses while they can. They would very much like to have the Liaodong map as soon as possible. So would I.

They also told me that the 2nd role quests are bugged for everyone except Heavenly Demon. Apparently a kill on one of the Cave of the Conqueror quest mobs fails to register, leaving you stranded in the quest series. So, no 2nd role skills, no good clothes, and very slow grinding in the high EC levels. Because of that I will probably stop grinding my AxtTreiber character at EC8, where I could normally put on the clothes. I'll start camping those bosses too I guess.

At this point I don't see any need to spend any more money on experience cards either. I'll be EC1 today and a couple of our newer members are planning to join me there, and I mean today. Last night I mentioned in chat that we could spend a few evenings this week running CoF and VoH too, making sure that everyone has their epithets, so go get your passes people.

I wasn't planning to start a new character this early but if we don't get a patch very soon, we may see my nuker much earlier than planned. At the least I can get him to RL12, switch over to nuker and start training skills.

Anyway, here's hoping we get a patch sooner than "soon", with bug fixes and the Liaodong map.

Some thoughts, some bugs

Posted by Anonymous in , , ,

We've had an event going on over the weekend on 9D Germany and I've had a few thoughts on it, and I found a few bugs. The experience rate hasn't been too bad and I made it to SM7 last night. The normal experience rate is 2x the base rate, and this event is supposed to be 2x that number. With an xp card on I can level up in about 30 to 40 minutes, but that's me. I know exactly where to grind and which mobs are worth to use an xp card on.

As a melee hybrid I'm looking for high aggro melee mobs that gang up on me. Kill One and Heal, repeat for 30 minutes and avoid ranged attack mobs so that you don't have to move for the entire 30 minutes that the xp card lasts.

The skill xp rate was also supposed to have been doubled, but this isn't great. It's bearable as an event rate but training skills past c8 well and truly sucks. There is a complete lack of manuals in the game too which isn't helping things. I'm not looking forward to the rest of this week, and getting these skills done.

And lastly, the drop rate is just pathetic. I was not able to collect enough drop material to be able to build myself the Wan Daye RL weapon, and I had 6 Blood Essences already from the Games Campus forum quizzes a couple of weeks ago. There are 2 quests where the reward is a level 2 non-dungeon elixir, so I had to earn 1.5 million in gold to get the other 3 elixirs needed to build that weapon.

I leveled right past the stages where that weapon would have been useful and never got that much gold. I bought almost nothing in the early stages of the game too, because I know how useful that weapon is. I pick up every single drop in this game and quite frankly if I can't get a Wan Daye RL weapon, the game drop rate is simply too low. I hope Games Campus will consider this carefully.

As for bugs there are still a few, and a couple of them were known in the beta test phase. They haven't been fixed yet and I'm a little disappointed by that.

Der Aufmerksame Sohn, or The Mindful Son quest in Hefei has a text bug. You absolutely must have a German style computer keyboard in order to complete the text of that quest. That's one of the quests where you have to repeat some text and in English the answer is "Green Orchid". In German the answer is "grĂ¼nes Orchidee".

I don't have that "u with an umlaut" character on my English language keyboard. According to standard German spelling "gruenes Orchidee" should also be acceptable but that answer doesn't work in the game. I posted about this problem on the Games Campus forum and got no response.

Edit: Based on Jim's comment I have now changed my text file to English. I don't need that, as I can read in German just fine, but I'm not interested to have to type in German. For starters I can't spell worth spit.

Otherwise there is a text failure in the instructions for the Corrupt Elder Monks quest, and there is a very similar text failure in the series of quests concerning the Five Eagles of the Brotherhood. There are also some text failures on the naming of some weapons, mostly Blood Dragon Gloves.

The last annoying thing in the game so far is the disconnection rate. Games Campus is using Game Guard to protect themselves from hacks. That system will disconnect you from the game every 30 to 40 minutes no matter what you are doing, and that isn't going to help Games Campus to sell XP cards.

That's all I've found so far. Did you find any other problems in game? Please post in our comments section if you did, and screen shots are always helpful too.

9D Germany is patched

Posted by Anonymous in , , ,

The guys at Games Campus had planned this patch for yesterday, but let us know it would be delayed a day both in their forum, and on their Twitter account. It's kind of interesting to see a 9D related Twitter account that is active. I have to wonder how other game publishers with "community liason" staff can't manage to inform their players what's happening with game development.

The first change in today's patch is some text updates for various things, including some quests, and Zhangzhu. If you have been using the English language text file with the German client, I suggest you switch back to the German language text file before down loading this patch. I don't have any reason for suggesting that, it just seems prudent to me.

There is a new quest on the Shi Zhang map, so there is probably a similar one on the white clans map too. There could be a problem here for players using the English language text file. This is a "new" quest, and the text probably doesn't exist in that text file. The NPC is a peddlar claiming to represent Wan Daye. On the black side you have to kill 7 bandits that are nearby and you get your choice of clan relevant weapons, including a set of bracers that are usuable by hybrid players.

The weapons do a little extra damage and give 3% speed and are designed for OC level players, so they aren't a bad little gift item. The bracers I got are marked as "combinable", so supposedly they can be slotted too. I tried that and couldn't figure it out. You probably need to use a Jade Separator just like you do with a Hermit weapon.

Apparently the "Mindful Son" quest series is now fixed too. Edit: No it's not.

And lastly, those damned good and annoying invisible walls that were all over the place are finally gone! I personally tested the gate from the Brotherhood clan map to Shi Zhang, all of Hefei, and the gate from Shi Zhang to Datong.

If you see something that still needs a fix please let us know in the comments section. I know that the Games Campus staff have been reading this blog, so they will find your reports here too.

Quests in Zhangzhu

Posted by Anonymous in , , ,

This new version of the game is totally German, and that is obviously going to be a problem for some people. It was mentioned in the comments section yesterday that you can replace the NDTEXTDB_DE.XSD in your game folder/data/script with the US version of that file, and you get everything in English again, except the new material.

The tutorial map, Zhangzhu, is completely new so I don't recommend you replace that text file until you've finished the grind on the first map. It's heavily quest based and the text goes missing if you replace the German text file with the English language file. To help players with that new material we've put together a quest guide. Anyone with any corrections or more information is invited to post in the comments section and I'll add things as I get them.

Like usual, all quests start with the large blue exclamation mark, and further steps in the quest use a question mark. Just keeping that in mind makes each quest easy. I'll give the German language name of the quest and a simple translation, and the NPC name where the quest starts.

Erste Begegnung (First Meeting): Tan Xiao (Tutorial/Collections)
You get told to distribute your 10 attribute points, and come back.
Reward: gold, xp

Bitte von Tan Xiao (Request from Tan Xiao): Tan Xiao
You are given beginners Lightfoot and Meditation. Deliver food to her Father, then back to Tan. She then explains meditation, chi breathing, etc.
Reward: xp

Gib eine Waffe (Give a Weapon): Tan Xiao
Tan sends you to the Hermit, where you select black or white clans, and then the actual clan. He gives you a weapon too.
Reward: a weapon, xp

Anfanger-Axtangriff (Beginner Axe Attack): Hermit (Accupressure Buffs)
The Hermit sends you to your clan trainer for your first active skill. Other forms of this quest name depend on the weapon type, such as Schwertangriff (Sword Attack). You don't just talk to your clan trainer, you select a skill from him and then go train on the training posts nearby.
Reward: xp

If you chose to go vagabond in the game you'll have these 2 quests forever marked as incomplete because you didn't select a clan from the Hermit in Gib eine Waffe. It is still safe to do the Gib eine Waffe Quest though. Doing this quest does not make you a clan member. That is still handled the old fashioned way for each clan.

Bitte von Wei Wu Min (Request from Wei Wu Min): Wei Wu Min (Innkeeper)
Kill 5 foxes.
Reward: LS4 relic, gold, xp

Sabelberg, Schwertwald (Saber Mountain, Sword Forest) Wei Wu Min
Talk to 2 women of the village.
Reward: xp

Der Wunsch eines Madchens (A Little Girls Wish): Wei Xiao Wo (Little Girl)
Collect a fox hair and a fox tail. (with so many people starting the game now, you don't even have to kill a couple of foxes. just go pick the items up from the ground...)
Reward: lollipops, xp

Schwester des kleinen Madchens (Sister of the Little Girl): Wei Xiao Wo
Deliver a hair brush from the little girl and get told off by her older sister.
Reward: xp

Mittlepunkt der Welt (Mid-point of the World): Wang Xiao Ri (Wan Daye's Servant)
Go to Hefei and speak to Wan Daye.
Reward: Bambu Roll, xp, 4 pocket 50 Defence clothes

Das Land ist in Aufruhr (The Land is in Uproar): Tan Xiao
Go talk to your clan trainer. Wannabee BoT get sent to Kill 3 Moonkids. Other clans might have a different target.
Reward: LS2 relic, xp

Besuch bei der Liga der Bettler (Visit the Beggars): Zhu Shi (Beggar Clan)
A beggar tries to distract wannabee black clan players. I'm sure the stinking white clans get the better treatment from a clan trainer from our side. Too bad they never listen. Oh well, we'll just have to kill them. (but you'll still have to go to the Beggar map to finish this quest)
Reward: xp

Das Land ist in Aufruhr II (The Land is in Uproar): Wei Xiao Wo
The Little Girl sends you to talk to a few clan trainers.
Reward: xp

Einem jungen Mann Arbeit Verschaffen I, II, III, IV (Create Work for a Young Man): Xiao Jin Lai (Storekeeper)
This is the stupidest series of quests ever. Just follow the quest marks and click through them. You will have to run to Hefei and speak with a couple of NPC's to get a pretty good relic.
Reward: gold, xp, backpack, relic

Hanstoff von Xiao Guo Xiao (Hemp Cloth of Xiao Gu Xiao): Xiao Gu Xiao (Seamstress)
Collect 5 pieces of cloth from female bandits.
Reward: xp pill, xp

Das Gepack von Fang Yuan (Backpack of Fang Yuan): Fang Yuan (Shao Clan)
Talk to the Sacred Flowers Clan Trainer, then get the backpack from the Moonkids.
Reward: 2 relics, xp

Der Bergkonig (The Mountain King): Tan Xiao
Talk to the village headman.
Reward: relic, xp

Hilfe von unbekanntem alten Mann (Help from an old man): Hermit
Change your point distribution if needed.
Reward: none

Kiste der Banditen (Bandits Chest): Tan Xiao
Collect Bambuspfanne and return them to Tan Xiao.
Reward: Bamboo Item, xp

Besuch bei der Bruderschaft (Visit the Brotherhood): Chuan Lang
Just like it says, go talk to an NPC on the clan map. Each clan has a version of this quest.
Reward: xp

Das Hobby des Dorfobersten (Hobby of the Village Headman): Wei Chun Xin
Talk to the Hunter and kill 5 each of 2 types of wolves.
Reward: gold, xp

Das Gegengift fur den Vater (Antidote for a Father): Wei Xiao Wo
Talk to the doctor and kill 5 snakes.
Reward: xp pill, xp

Im Kampf Getotet (Died in Battle): Wan Xiao Ri
Talk to the big sister, and get told off again. Hey, it's free XP.
Reward: xp

Hilfe fur den Toa-Alchemisten (Help for the Taoist Pharmacist): Xiao Zhi You
Collect 8 firewood from the stumps at 137, 208. Collect 5 Wild Gingseng at 123, 90
Reward: level 1 elixir, xp

Alter Weiser in Bambus-Wald (Old Wise One in the Bamboo Forest): Wei Wu Min
Go talk to the Hunter.
Reward: xp

Gestohlener Honig I, II, III (Stolen Honey): Wei Chun Xin
Go talk to the Hunter again, and again. Buy him a bottle of the blue liquor. Then he talks. Eventually you get the orders to go kill the bear.
Reward: xp, epithet

Kung Fu Trainieren (Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting!!! Ooo, Ah!!!): Wei Jin Xiao
Go talk to various NPCs (again).
Reward: gold, xp

Die Axe mit Zermalmendem Chi (The Axe with Grinding Chi): Tan Xiao
Talk to various NPC's, including one in Hefei, about the weapon that can split a massive rock.
Reward: xp

Den Felsen zerstoren (Destroy the Rock): Jiang Qibao
You get a windgram from Hefei to pick up a weapon in the village. Destroy the rock and save the kidnapped soldier by killing 6 each of 2 types of Bandit.
Reward: gold, xp

Chi an andere ubertragen (Donating Chi): Xiao Zhi You
Talk to the Hermit. He makes you Chi Breathe.
Reward: xp

Verruckte Banditen (Insane Bandits): Tan Xiao
Kill 10 Bandits
Reward: strength ambrosia, xp

Plotzlicher Tod am Platz (Sudden Death): Tan Xiao
Kill the Mountain King Zhang Zhong.
Reward: xp, epithet

Die Ankunft des Drachen (The Beginnings of a Dragon): Tan Xiao
Every NPC on the map wants to talk to you because you're a hero.
Reward: Ginseng powder, xp

Bier Trinken (Drinking Beer): AxtTreiber
Go get a beer. You earned it.
Reward: beer

And that ends our not so short tour of the Zhangzhu, or the Diamond Mine as it's sometimes called. I hope this guide helps. You know, we're always looking for good writers and artists for this blog. If you would like to help out, please let me know.

The Second Role

Posted by Anonymous in , , , ,

It's been a long time since we had this topic on the blog and because I made EC6 with my warrior character yesterday I thought I would bring it up. It's an important milestone for all players but for warriors in particular the game suddenly gets a lot easier to play, and starts to be enjoyable again.

For the last 8 levels or so I've been struggling. A warrior needs a full set of buffs to be able to grind effectively and unfortunately healers and hybrids aren't always around when you need them. I was grinding on yellow Devas for quite a bit of the time because they can't really gang up on you. Still though, I had to meditate after 2 of them, and only sometimes could I kill 3 before I had to run and meditate. The other advantage to the deva grind is there is a place to run to, when you have to meditate.

At the low EC levels you start to get a series of Road to the Dragon quests, but only if you've completed all of the previous RTD quests. Don't ignore them, they are there for a reason. If you haven't already seen them, Fullneo wrote a great set of guides for those quests for all the black clans; Brotherhood of Thieves, Sacred Flower and Heavenly Demon.

The quests mostly involve a lot of running back and forth to the Cave of the Conqueror, which has never been my favorite grind spot. It's a lot easier now that we have the anti-PK buff, but I died once anyway when one of the bosses spawned right on top of me.

I really hate when that happens.

When you're finally done that running back and forth you'll have the title of Senior member of your clan and a number of new skills are available at your skill trainer. In particular you'll get a new active skill that does a lot more damage than the old ones. You also get a free chance to reset your chi points and mastery points if you've messed them up along the way.

The best thing though, for warriors anyway, is the new Advanced Masteries that open up. For a warrior the first things you get are an extra 500 points of defense and 1000 hit points. You'll also get a set of clothes from the quests that you can use at EC8. Those clothes give another 360 points of defense. Like I said, "for warriors in particular the game suddenly gets a lot easier to play, and starts to be enjoyable again."

Now it's time for the EC level Party Quest.

Retrieving Family Treasure

Posted by Anonymous in ,

This quest has been bugged for a long time, but one of our members showed me a work around today. Good work Elfy! This will help a lot of people.

You get this quest from "Wu Nong" in Fengwei, and he asks you to retrieve a family treasure from the Old Fengwei village. It's not an easy quest to begin with because there is one of those Sky Squadron mobs in that village, and at the time you get the quest that mob is still red to you. You have to search the grass shoots in the village and you normally get that treasure case fairly quickly. The problem now though, the grasses are missing from the village so you can't get the treasure case.

Well, there are grasses on the Hefei map in Strolling Valley. They are marked as "Green Orchid" but they will give you the treasure case. You can run back to Fengwei, complete the quest and continue on with the rest of the Road to Enlightenment quests.

Anyone else have a good quest tip?

Patch 115

Posted by Anonymous in , ,

We don't have all the details yet, like "when", but there is a new patch coming. [GM]Fugen mentioned this on the forum last Friday and gave us some details.

The most controversial item in this new patch is a non-PvP buff that we should be able to get from the Hermit in Bloody Plains, or in the Cave of the Conqueror. The idea is that you'll be able to grind in CC if you want, without having to deal with random PK idiots or karma farmers. There are some profitable drops in CC, and many people would like to be able to grind in peace. There are also some good bosses there, with really valuable drops. Now we'll all have a chance at them and I think that's great. We'll have to arrange some league runs to those bosses.

We are also getting some new high level quests (finally!), as well as new material for the Tibet map. Let's use this post to collect details on those new quests, and the Tibet material. Please post anything you find in the comments section and I'll bring that information into this post.

Edit: As per [GM]Fugen, things aren't quite going to plan.

We may be a bit more delayed with this patch. We expected Indy to fix a couple of things, one of which was fixed. One of which still isn't working. So we'll see how quickly they get us the other fix. It may still be tonight, or it may push off to another day.

Let's hear your impressions

Posted by Anonymous in , ,

I'm on the last day of my diving vacation and we'll be leaving for Singapore tomorrow. I'm hoping for a chance to see a couple of movies that would never be seen in Germany. I'll let you know what I find. After that, we'll be home late Saturday, ready to play on Sunday.

Some of you guys have been playing the Tibet map already and I would love to hear your impressions so far. To be honest it will probably be a couple of weeks until I get can to the Tibet map. At LM7 I was getting 3.5% per hour of grind and I'm stuck in those mixed up mobs at the Palace/Altar on the Ice Map, where it's actually easier to grind when it's not an event.

Also, I understand there are a lot of new quests to be done. Could someone put together a guide for those? Finally we've got some new quests. It would be nice to know what's going on before we all waste too much time on them.

So how about it? How is the game going for you, after Patch 110?

More on Masters and Disciples

Posted by Anonymous in , , , ,

The quests for the level 4 Masters now works and for the most part it's just a lot of running around maps that are safe for anyone who is a Master, SM1 or better. The small exception to that is one step that takes you to the Conqueror's Cave where you talk to an NPC and then have to kill a mob a few times in order to get a package back from him. For BoT Masters the mob is Secret Meditation of Shaolin and it only took a couple of minutes.

The problem is that it's the Conqueror's Cave and we have no shortage of idiots who will stand there and wait for people to talk to that NPC, even if they can't see the NPC themselves. It turns into a karma collection point and sure enough yesterday when I went in there, there were 4 or 5 nukers just standing around waiting for people. Idiots. I turned around and went back out the door while I was still invincible. I went back a little later with all of my CK Dodge clothing and had no problem from them.

The next quest for Masters is probably at the 10k level of contribution points.

(Edit: Nope, got that level tonight and no new quest. The 2nd quest isn't at 20k either.)

For the students there is now a quest that also takes them to Bloody Plains. They are looking for a returning "spy" that is now a dead body laying on the ground in the Forest of Broken Blades. FD1 level characters can easily survive that as long the usual karma collectors aren't around. Just do it at a quiet time of day.

There probably is another disciples quest but my highest level disicple is only FD9 and he hasn't run into to it yet. Maybe at SM1? (Edit: Nope. My highest disiciple hit that today, and there is no new quest for him.)

I am still collecting contribution points from that disciple and he has agreed to stay until 50k points are reached. Apparently that is the number of points you can get from any particular disicple. He doesn't get that disciple buff anymore though, and he gets no benefit from the In Session or Advantage count.

The In Session and Advantage counters both work now and when you and your disciples run the In Session kill number up to 1000 you get a nice buff that speeds up your blood count and will help you collect free Blood Essence faster. My guys got that number up to 2000 last night and the buff got even better. We're trying for 3000 today just to test that. I love free BE!

What have you found?

Master and Disciple Quests

Posted by Anonymous in , ,

If you've taken on a disciple or become one you'll start to get a series of quests as you produce contribution points. I'm not sure what level the disciples get them but the first quest for a master comes when the disciples have produced 1000 contribution points. Of course, the quest is bugged. Well done Acclaim/Indy21.

You get these quests from Sima, the new NPC in charge of this Master and Disciple system in Hefei. As Acclaim/Indy21 get the bugs sorted out we will document the quests here, for both the masters and the disciples. Hopefully this wont take forever to get sorted out.

Acclaim and Indy21 have reached a new high in utter incompetence with this new patch. There are some nice ideas here, but actually keeping the game working is just not going well.

Master's Quests

To gain the 4th level of Mastership you have to carry a package to Xinnan on the Shi Zhang map. You deliver that package to the quest marked NPC, and then you speak to a character named Ye Xiaoqing at the entrance to that village. He isn't there at the moment. That is the bug.

As a Master you can only collect 1000 contribution points at level 5. I've been spending mine as they come on gifts for my new slave-noobs. I only have 1 of them active at the moment and he's producing contribution points almost as fast as I can spend them.

Disciples Quests

The first disciple quests for BoT players comes when you have contributed 1000 points and you are sent to kill "30 Leaders of White Shadows" on the clan map. You receive 2000 gold for completing this quest. Other clans will probably have similar quests on their clan map and I would love to hear from you if you've done one of those quests.

A Disciple starts as a 3rd class disciple and levels up to 2nd class when he has produced 5000 contribution points. At 20000 contribution a disciple becomes a 1st Class disciple but it is unclear if there is any other bonus.

Other Information

Every 50th mob you kill either as master or disciple will give you a random experience bonus. In combination with an xp event that can be a really big bonus from one mob. If the class is "in session" and everyone is grinding, those bonuses come often because every kill from every player counts.

The disciple buff is worth damage, hit points and vital energy but the disciple only gets that buff if the master is online. The bonus buff increases in value for every mob killed by the disciple. When the master comes back online the bonus buff is restored as it previously was and does not start over. Choose carefully which character you want to play as a master. Your disciples will want that character to be online an awful lot of the time.

I haven't tried it yet, but I understand that a black clan master can take disciples from all three clans plus vagabonds, and a white clan master can take disciples from all white clans plus vagabonds. I would bet a Vagabond Master can accept from all 6 clans, as long as they get the disciple as a Vagabond, before they choose a clan. I will continue to take only Brotherhood of Thieves members as disciples because those are the characters I know best.

The prizes from the NPC sellers are damned impressive, particularly for the level 1 masters. There is a permanent HP Plate that is worth 5/1000 hp return and has no karma requirement. The level 2 decos will also be popular. They are worth various combinations of damage or defense or speed. There is a level 1 deco as well, with no information as to what it does.

Feel free to add to this list.

Patch 99

Posted by Anonymous in , ,

It's sort of here, just like Bardo is sort of here. Sometimes you can get into the game and play, and sometimes you can't. For all of the problems though there is some interesting stuff in this patch. First the easy stuff.

There are a few new quests in Hefei. The first one from the Duel Master is how you get your Christmas deco, and it's a nice one. Low level players are going to love this thing. I'm not sure if high level players would be better off playing with their usual dodge deco instead. I haven't tested that yet. Anyway, the deco quest is just a matter of running back and forth a couple of times.

The second quest in Hefei is also a little bit of running around and starts with a new NPC named One Hit Three Kills. Just for fun, stand there and watch what he says. I don't know how that slipped through the PG13 rating guide. Anyway, after you talk to the Hermit in that quest series go back to your clan map and kill a few Rudolphs. Run back to Hefei and collect an elixir. I think it's a dodge elixir.

The third quest is related to the master/disciple system and you have to go kill one of the bears now wandering around Strolling Valley in Hefei. You're supposed to deliver that quest item to an NPC in Shi Zhang but you can't. The old master is dead. Return to Hefei and speak to the original NPC and gain a defense pill.

We've also got the rest of the Master & Disciple system and for anyone over SM1 level you have an extra quest in Hefei to become a Master. Once you have done so, low level players can approach you and ask to become a disciple, much like they would invite you to a grinding party. That's important, as a Master you don't invite disciples, they ask you.

It's worth it for low level players to do that though, they get a buff after becoming a disciple and it gives bonuses to damage, hit points, vital energy and gold drops, not that gold drops are all that much in this version of the game. Masters get contribution points that they can use to purchase items from the new NPC's in Hefei and on the clan maps. It will be up to the masters to share out those items and I suspect some will be better about it than others.

The Masters get their own series of quests to do as their disciples level up, and they too can purchase items from the NPC's if they are the right levels. Master's have access to some nice looking time-limited items like Deco's, HP return, and damage beads. If you stay with this idea you could be become one seriously dangerous Master.

That's what I've found so far. Please feel free to contribute to this post.

The next collection event

The Thanksgiving event is sort of over, just like it sort of started, so Warda has gone out and built another of her collection quests for a good experience event. I sure like the experience events but I keep seeing the same problems every time Warda puts on one of these quests.

The first mistake she keeps making, and this really is a problem, is that she badly underestimates how difficult some of these items are to collect. She's already gone down the list of painful items like wooden branches and broken arrows. She even tried to include needles on one list. Well this time she's asking for leather pouches and those just don't drop fast enough that we'll be able to collect 1000 of them in a couple of days.

The Confucionists in Death Valley drop these pouches (black side. I don't know about whites) and there are only a few Confucionists around at one time. In the short time that your character will be in the right levels to grind on them, you aren't going to get a lot of leather pouches. That's not an easy grinding spot either. You're constantly on the run in Death Valley.

I think we had this item in a previous list too and we managed to collect 1000 of them, but mostly because some people already had some in the bag. We don't have that this time and we're falling short.

The second problem in these collection quest lists is that Warda keeps asking for items that are extremely valuable, like dungeon passes or pass materials. Dungeons are the source of wealth in this game and if she keeps asking for passes we're literally giving away game gold. I'm not turning in any more dungeon passes unless the drop rate for them goes way up.

This week the collection list has an NPC item, Tiger Bracers. You can buy them from the Smithy in Bisha, on the Datong map. Does anyone know where to buy these on the white maps? Tiger Bracers cost 110k each and if Warda wants 1000 of them? That's 110 million in game gold to give away. I don't have that kind of gold to give away, but if you do, we still need almost 400 of them for the Bardo list. Those things don't stack very well either.

The last problem I'm seeing is that you need to have a character in the right range for each of these items. Once you take out the dungeon passes or pass materials none of my usual characters can collect anything on this list. I took out one of my stand characters, put my 500 defense clothes and dodge deco on him and started collecting Big Pouches. That's not really fair against LS level mobs, but this isn't about being fair. I want that experience event, and if you want it too, get out there and get a few of these items.

There is an active list available on a google spreadsheet document, so you'll know what is needed at all times.

By donating items for VGM's you also get keys for Conqueror's Chests. The higher the level of the chest you open, the greater the chance of a valuable item.

Chests can contain any of the following:
- Nothing
- Herbs
- Gold
- Sachets
- Fans
- Good Karma Plates
- Bad Karma Plates
- Rings
- Blood Beads

New Quests and Items!

Posted by Pinky_Lu in , , ,

There are some new quests and items in the Acclaim version of the game. Every time you have to go chi breathe you'll get a new chat quest from an NPC where you'll get a couple of gift items that you can usually only get from the coin mall. I've been told by a couple of friends that the Korean version of the game has had this for a long time now, but I'm still glad to see it here.

It's a nice little gift for leveling up, and it gives players a bit of an idea of what they can get from the coin mall Items.

Here is what Pinky-Lu got on one of her alternate characters;

My noob character is LilSparrow HD warrior RC 1
There was a quest started in Hefie at Couriers
I recieved alot of items at OC1 - x5 Lions Roar - x5 Teleport Passes - x1 Huatuo's - Panacea Black Tortoise Jade 1 day 4% speed.
Another quests at RC1 a quest in ShiZhang i recieved a Item mall deco for 3 days with 2 slots - x3 summoning balls. Awesome!

If you have to chi breathe anytime soon please share with us what you got as your gift!

- Pinky-Lu and SpearDriver

Patch 82 Notes

There is now Clan Wardrobe (deco) that has two slots and is permanent. Yay! Other versions of 9D have had this for quite a while and it's something people have been asking for regularly. It's nice to see that Acclaim didn't put these items into the coin mall. You can buy them in-game from the deco seller on your clan map.

The Black market dealer is now in the Conqueror's Cave on the 3rd floor, and the others have been deleted. At level 73 there will be a quest from the Black Market Dealer, meaning that CC3 is about to become a death trap for the next little while.

There are new collections for both Master Refiner Mo Tailan and Cave of the Conqueror Black Market Dealer. You need to gather 20 Lucky Gold Coin and can exchange them for Blood Essence. I already have my first one!

You can now go to the Cave by using a Couriers' Guild Transport Pass.

There are golden boxex that spawn. That's how you get your Lucky Gold Coins. The boxes are spawned on random spots on maps.

While Purchasing items from the new black market, there are chances to get Lucky Gold Coin instead of the item you purchase, the lucky gold coins can can be used to trade Blood Essence from the new collection. You will get the items you purchase with random boosted stats. However you will not get the item you purchase if you get Lucky Gold Coin.

That's all I know so far. Let's leave this open and update it as we find things! Have fun today.

I think that's how it's spelled, and that is almost all of the Chinese I know. That means, "Happy New Year" in Chinese and according to their ancient lunar calendar it's that time.

For the Chinese it is a time to relax and to go meet family. My wife and I were in Singapore last year for CNY and that city was Closed. There were plenty of things for us to do there, but the shopping was pretty limited. Still, I liked it enough to go back again for a second trip last year.

In terms of the game, Acclaim has given us another hat item and it's pretty good. It gives +10 all attributes, 500 HP and VE and a nice critical dodge number. How you get that hat isn't all that clear. There are three quests you can do, and they start with a new fortune-teller NPC in Hefei. Just go look for the crowd.

You have to buy a bunch of keys from him and then try to be the first to open the various chests that spawn in front of him. The fortune teller was Grand Central Noob Station this morning when I did it. You use the keys to open the chests and collect the fortune letters. Letter number 3 actives a quest that in the end only gives you 200 gold. At the end of that quest you have to tell three words to the Black Market mask seller. The three words are the name of the item you picked up from the first NPC. You can do this quest repeatedly.

To get the hat you need to get fortune letter number 7. Then you get a chain-quest where you talk to a whole bunch of Hefei NPC's. Eventually you end up where you started the quest and you'll get the Ox hat. Uhm, I might get a deco to cover it up. It's pretty noobish.

There is a third quest and you have to be really patient with it. You need fortune letters 2 and 9, and two copies of fortune letter 0. That triggers a quest from the fortune-teller, and I think that gets you a +500 HP buff that lasts 60 minutes. I'm not sure if you can re-do that quest so I haven't started it yet.

The hat can be put into storage, so all of your characters can use it. This also means we need to watch carefully for a sign that the New Years event is ending soon, so that we can all go make a new hat. The one I got today lasts until the 4 of February, almost 3 weeks!

I got a dumpling ambrosia drop while grinding today. I suspect we'll see a few of those in this event. Dumplings are a traditional New Years food item, and these ones are going to make Hybrids and Nukers particularly happy. Each ambrosia gives you 500CK damage for 10 minutes.

And lastly, there is a new in-game drop. It's a red envelope with cash in it. It is traditional in Chinese families to give children a red envelope with money in it, for New Year's, or for their birthdays. I got a few of them today on the grind and NPC'ed them for 120 gold each at the clan map. I'm not sure if there is another use for them, but it's a nice touch that is based on a real tradition.

If you want another tradition? Wear something red for New Years. It's supposed to be lucky. And don't touch the dust in your house. You would be sweeping your luck away.

Did you find anything else in the event?

3.After u accept the quest u have to go kill the Dire Wolf located in south of Changxingzhi area

- The Dire Wolf is a kind of mini-boss that can cause an awful lot of external wounds and has a paralyze attack too. I was able to solo this mob at SM10 with my warrior character "SpearDriver", but had to meditate during the fight. It should be a lot easier for the hyb/healer characters, but your average nooker shouldn't bother. The experience from this party quest is extraordinary, and I was able to gain 3 levels in just two days of normal play. I'm expecting another level tomorrow, and GB1 this weekend.

- SpearDriver

PS:-The respawn time is around 7-13 minutes
-You get ~5,6% exp at ec7 ; ~5,5% exp at ec9 and ~5,4% exp at ec12
-Dont kill first bosses too early, leave them to be around 1-5% left
-When third one comes, try to kill bosses nearly same time at once, so they can come again in 10min
-Requires EC8 to kill bosses, but suggested to have healer/hybrid close to you
-Dont do FC-chibreathing before finishing last quest, this way you get extra 5% exp at FC1

Floral Crown 7-12 Party Quest (repeatable)

2.To accept the quest you have to go at Yin Daibi the Engineer in Linbei village at Hangzhou map

3.After u accept the quest u have to go kill one boss from Wild Tower: Flaming Bull located at last room in WT
- Good to have at least 5 people to do these runs and someone can be afk at Linbei village

4.After you kill boss you have to go back at Yin Daibi the Engineer to get rewards
- No need to kill Savage Hands
- Leader can go and die by Savage Hands and thats how can end the quest very fast at Linbei
- Other people inside WT can now relogin when quest is finished and start new party

5.Reward is 250000 exp and 30000gold

PS:-Runs varies from 15 minutes to 40 minutes
-You get ~11% exp at fc7 ; ~10% exp at fc9 and ~9% exp at fc12

-Have always Healers in your party, because Bosses will clear players buffs away instantly
-Lure only Flaming Bull to the door area where its safe to kill
-Beware bleeding and easy dying, thats why do not run away so healers can revive and heal
-Second Form is orange at FC7 but becomes green at FC12
-Dont do FC-chibreathing before finishing last quest, this way you get extra 8,5% exp at CS1
-Due to dungeon bugs, dont use bleeding skills like SF Active or Nuke bleeding, boss might disappear
- When second form of Flaming Bull appears, wait 10 to 20 seconds so it stays and wont vanish (example start killing at purple 9:40 or green 7:40)
- Useful to lure Savage away from door so it wont bother while killing Flaming Bull
- Experienced players will teach in WT that what you have to do and what not to do :)
- Its harder to get Conqueror epi (killing all bosses) than Killer epi (killing just Flaming Bull)

Leftovers in the bag

Posted by Anonymous in ,

In the past I've had problems with a couple of bugged quests, and sometimes you just can't get rid of an item from your bag, no matter how hard you try. For example, there is a lowby party quest where you can get rid of the "old pouch". You know, the one you get from the old man, for running back and forth in Datong?

The party quest to get rid of the pouch is worth doing. You get a pretty nice ring in exchange that is useful to a lowby character, except that half the time that party quest is bugged and you can't complete it and you wind with a book or the pouch still in your bag.

You can get rid of stuff like that by taking a screen shot of the item in your bag. You send an email to 9dsupport@acclaim.com with that screen shot attached to the email. You'll have to include your account name, character name (even though they can get that from the screen shot), and short request asking them to remove the item you want gone.

I've done this a couple of times and the request is usually handled in a few hours time.

A few of you probably have a few extra pumpkins in the bag. Just send an email, and the support people will take care of it.

About different types of quests.

Posted by RedCross in

Quests

The quests of 9Dragons can be easily found by investigating the [!] and [?] marks on the mini-map. The following are types of Quests that will be offered from various NPC’s (Non-Player Characters) throughout The Land:

Road to The Dragon
The Road to The Dragon is a journey that can transform you into a true warrior and leader of your clan.

These are the main storyline quests of 9Dragons. They usually begin with an order from a ranking NPC disciple of a clan, and you will often receive a higher rank in the clan as a reward.

Road to Enlightenment
These are quests that shall honestly reveal one’s deepest motives to one’s own inner self.

Basic quests of 9Dragons. You may receive these quests at all levels.

Road to Karma
These quests effect the core nature of your relationship with The Land and those who dwell within it.

You receive one new Road to Karma quest every six Cheng (levels) after you reach level 25. These are typically a series of three to five quests that are somehow inter-connected, and they usually bring the best rewards.

Road to Fate
The Buddha preached that all life is one, and these quests explore how all life in The Land may interact through you to affect your ultimate destiny.

Heroic Episodes
These quests allow you to test your newfound skills and gain fame throughout The Land. Can be done many times. Possible to get epithet when getting to the ranking list.

While other quests can be completed only once, you are able repeat some types of quests over and over again.

Ranking Quests
In these quests you are actually in competition against others in The Land to see who can handle the mission the most thoroughly; how quickly you can deliver an item or how many monsters you can defeat. Most of those quests are actually Heroic Episodes.

Party Quests
Available to a Party Leader, these quests are done cooperatively by all party members. Some Party Quests are also Ranking Quests. You have to buy scrolls from Wandering Merchant in Hefei to activate this quest. All Scrolls have different requirements.

Collection Quests
You may obtain a fine reward by heeding the request of certain NPC’s who enjoy collecting things for a living. They will typically ask you to collect from three to twenty specific Items. Check under L in game for more info.

There are two different types of basic collections:

Resource Collection: You may visit a Resource Merchant to exchange lower-graded resource items into higher-graded ones. Different resource merchants exchange different resource items: One merchant may upgrade several primary resources into a secondary one, while another merchant exchanges several secondary resources into a prize that is highly sought after.

Collectibles Collection: A collector may request many strange and obscure collectible items for his collection. These Collection Quests are not repeatable, and you automatically keep a log of the collections you have finished and those still in progress in your Character Window. While you need not revisit the collector to finish the collection, you will need to meet him again to claim the reward.
