I'm reading today's Daily Update from Hyperion for about the 3rd time today, and yes that's the low-fi version of the link that I was talking about yesterday. Readable, just the way I like it.

Anyway, back on topic. While the latest update is a little longer than the previous 2, this one doesn't tell us very much either. In fact if you read it from another perspective, in terms of what he didn't say you can figure out more than a little bit. For example Hyperion admits that their website didn't get done yesterday, but what he doesn't say is that the game client hasn't arrived from Indy21 either. He would have announced it, if the game client had arrived. We've all experienced how pathetically slow Indy21 can be. Hyperion is now in the learning stage on that topic.

The other issue that Hyperion is completely avoiding is the player database. That is the one crucial factor for all players here. Either G1 gets the database back or players will move on. Somebody put together a poll on that topic and so far more than 70% have said they would move on.

What Hyperion does go on to talk about is the rules governing the forum, and I can already see the heavy hand coming down. Last night I was enjoying this new low-fi version and I saw several posts deleted and a number of people banned for a day or two. G1 might not be ready for the twitchy little hyperactive, attention-seeking teenagers who seem to be attracted to this game.

Players were really happy at not having to deal with Acclaim anymore, but the honeymoon is ending and Hyperion knows it. The forum will start getting rough if there is no game available this weekend. I'm sure we'll see more than a few kiddy-scrollers in the IRC channel this weekend too, either wanting to know where the game is, or why they were banned from the forum.
