It's been a day

Posted by SpearDriver in , ,

You know, one of these days the publisher of this game will learn to thoroughly test the patches from Indy21 before applying them.

Ok, I should also point out that G1 is pointing fingers at GameGuard for discontinuing their services to 9Dragons. I'll be blunt. I don't believe that for a minute. Companies like GameGuard need their publishing companies, just as much as the publishers need the players. They don't just discontinue service without warning. Ok, Acclaim did exactly that, but that's Acclaim. They knew they weren't going to be in business any longer, and knew it for a long time.

Anyway, back to the original point. Indy21 has messed up the client software before with regards to GameGuard and I have no reason to believe that isn't so this time around. I'm waiting on a credible source to tell me what's up, and I'll just have to wait for now.

If this is a system error or programming mistake from Indy it could take days to weeks to be repaired. The last time Indy21 had such a problem I couldn't play for well over a month. Even if this is an easy to problem to solve I doubt everything will put back together before the weekend.

We'll see.

Edit: I've got official confirmation that GameGuard (or nprotect/INCA if you prefer) did in fact pull the plug on the 9Dragons game, and it will now be up to GamersFirst to figure out what the next step is.

Edit II: The game is up, sort of, for some people. You pretty much have to uninstall the old version of the game, but of course before you do that copy your screen shots into a new folder somewhere else.

Then you have to start again from scratch with that damned GamersFirst Live down load system. Yeah, the system that comes with a sneaky download of a P2P client, Pando Media Booster. Both of those programs get a registry mark to auto-start every time you boot your computer. This is not the sort of thing a responsible publisher does. It's not like I'm going to down load a G1 game every time I start my computer, and Indy21 doesn't put out patches every day either.

I recommend you uninstall both of those pieces of software once you have the game downloaded again.
