For LM2 to LM12 level players there really is no way around it at the moment. You are going to wind up grinding at either the Palace or the Altar on the Ice Map. Either one of them is going to give you a bad case of "what the f... is going on here!", although I will suggest that the Altar is slightly easier to grind than the Palace.
This problem is fairly new. Around the time we got the last Christmas event patch from Indy21 quite a number of mob placements on the maps were changed. This isn't the only "new" difficult spot, it's just the worst of them that I've run into so far. I stopped playing my SpearDriver character for quite some time because I just couldn't stand the thought of this place.
The problem is that there are 4 mobs over 9 levels, all packed into a fairly small area. The high level mobs are level 169 and are easily aggravated. The level 169 mobs are the Gold Armor Escort, level 166 are the Silver Armor Escort, level 163 are the Ice Armor Escort and last of all, the Snow Armor Escort. You wind up running for your life from the Golds because like I said, they're all mixed together. You can see exactly what I mean in this partial screen shot.
Do you see how dense those mobs are? You can see each type of mob in that group.
Things are a little easier at the Altar, at least you have some place to run to. The mobs aren't quite so tightly packed either, so stay as far away as you can from the red mobs. Here's a screen shot from the Altar. It's mostly the same type of mob, but once in a while a red mob will come charging through a wall and give you a bad moment.
That is the grind spot for the lowest level mobs, the Snow Armor Escorts but you can see Ice Armor and Silver Armor mobs in that screen shot.
I learned to run for my life down those stairs behind me and and start hitting the dark blue mobs at the bottom of the stairs. I have hp ornaments on my spear. It's as good as meditating. The important part is, those higher level red mobs will reset before they get to the bottom of the stairs, so you're safe enough if you get away from them quickly.
As you level up, you'll be taking on those higher level mobs directly, and the lower level players will thank you for it. I regularly used the warrior Run'n Stun move as soon as the higher mobs were orange for me. The other guy could get away, I killed a mob and I often got buffed by a grateful player.
That's the other thing about this grind spot, everybody buffs everybody. Everybody has to, because that's how you're going to survive. Some hybrid hits you with buffs? Hit him back with a warrior YY damage buff! He'll buff you regularly if you hit him back right away.
Warriors always need buffs. If you're a hybrid or healer at the Palace/Altar, and a warrior takes some time out from running for his life to give you a YY damage buff, please look around for him and buff that player in return. They're going to appreciate it. They might even save your life later with a Run'n Stun move.
It took me a few weeks to level up and get away from this place. I did most of my grind outside of the event times because the easy-aggro high level mobs were easier to avoid in the non-event times. I used xp cards the whole time too, because I wanted to get out of this grind spot as fast as I possibly could. I'm back to using those xp cards at event times only.
This must be a wierd spot for nukers, and to be honest I didn't see many of them while I was grinding here. I would be interested to hear from a high level nuker. How do you handle this grind?

Yeah I started SRS at LM11 too, also wasting passes with 1/4 and half-runs just so that I didn't have to stay at the altar.
I haven't seen a KS situation like this one since my days at the Datong bears.
When I was grinding in there then it wasn't so mixed as it is now, but the grinding was pretty much same...sucked to be lower LM in there, it went easier from LM 7 or 8, when only golds were red...
Oh and on event times there is no other way to grind in there if you don't ks. No point to pick "your" own mob out, because that way you only lose time and exp.
I ks'd every event time in there, especially on times where there was no other mob to pick.
During the events there were some rare moments when new mobs spawned or when I was in a corner somewhere that I was nicely ganged by mobs and able to kill alone few mobs...before other hungry grinders came to have get their share of it.
I liked in there when golds turned orange and I liked to ks. Also I was lucky to get away from there before it really got fucked up thanks to a patch xD
There were about 6 or even more nukers around my level grinding in there same time when I was...and there was at least 2 same level black parties in there + white parties. I think it was more crowded back then than it is now. I saw more warriors and healers die than nukers or hybrids.
Anyway was long time ago :)
i didnt do much grind there yet coz my nuker is only lm4 but i had a 3 hour grind with a friend at non-event time and it rocked, 20%+ in 3 hrs is good for non-event i suppose, but when even only 2x is on its horrible up there.
the nuker aoe often lures the red mobs down and some just dont wanna quit atking even tho ure on awareness and atking another mob >.<
anyways at that event i did 10% on a card...easy to see that this rly sux >.<
You wonder how nukers survive there... yeah pretty easy if you have enough HP leech.
During my grind at Palace I had a fair share of nukers around me... one of them even made a demo on how a red mob (169) that she just nuked will come to me and not to her... and it happened the freshly nuked mob runned away from her and started hitting me... AWARENESS BUFF.
Now if you have seen at The palace when you enter you have 169 on the right and 163 on the left low nukers stand in the middle of the mobs on both sides and doing AoE... lot's of mobs to kill and sometimes they use a LoS spot to medi in a corner or the high lvl nukers just hit Aw buff and medi in the middle of them.
If you walk to the stairs you will see again spaces of grind on the left you will see 166 - 169 mobs and on the right you will see 160 - 169 mobs, for geared nukers is easy, I always had 3+ nukers in pt and there were 2 that only really needed ew shield but there was also one that was constantly dieing... even so the only one in the party with the lowest HP was me especially when no hybrid was around.
About warrs at the Palace... hmm most of them @#$ they will always come and say buff me but most of them do forget to buff YY back... for some time the PT lider was a Hybrid and in PT chat he always saying " Why warrs are such big @sses, they always want buffs but they are to lazy to hit a button to buff back"...
Saying that someone will save your life around there is stupid ppl let you die w/o remorses, Palace is not that friendly... if you are a healer you need to learn the art of begging scale buffs if you can find a hybrid cuz you can't grind otherwise no matter the LvL
