Grinding in Datong

Posted by Andy in

What can you say about Datong? Well you can begin with: how to get to Datong. You can enter Datong from Shi Zang or Hefei.

In Datong there are 3 villages (Changqiu, Meixiang and Bisha).

You can come to Datong at RC10, and its preferably to leave Datong at SM1. The lowest monsters in Datong are Senior Lightning Shadows Disciples lvl 49 (RL1) that are located near the exit to Shi Zang and the hightest are the Blind Cudgel Demons lvl 75(SM3) that are located near Western Valley of Hell.

In Datong there is 1 dungeon (Judgement of Hell). If you complete the dungeon you get the epithet Conqueror of Valley of Hell, and if you slay Shao Yu-Lang you get the epithet Killer of Shao Yu-Lang.

I can give you some tips about grinding in Datong: u should come at RC11 and stay at the enior Lightning Shadows Disciples till RL 2, then you should go to the Senior Bloodthief Disciple lvl 52 (RL4) near Yaoxiang. At RL6 you should go to Howling Disciple lvl 56 (RL8) located and the upper right corner of the map. After the Howling Disciples you should go to the Big Brown Bears lvl 58 (RL10) located at Yungang Grottoes or near Ascending Gorge. I kept grinding at the Big Brown Bears till FD because if you don't have a party it's very hard to grind at the Depraved Monk. At FD 1 you should switch to Depraved Monks lvl 62(FD2) or Sinful Monks lvl 63 (FD3). From Sinful Monks it's kind of a big difference to the next monsters Big Stone-Skinned Demon lvl 68 (FD8), you should come at the Big Stone-Skinned Demon at FD5. At FD7 you should come to the Powerfull Stone-Skinned Demons lvl 69 (FD9) near Bisha Village were you should grind till FD10. After FD10 you should go to Hangzhou at the Red Wolfs lvl 70 (FD10).

Datong is a cool map with lots of monsters u can try and lot's of people are grinding there. Datong is a map where you can make lots of friends. :P

I hope that u will find this information usefull.

Note: The grinding tips were made from a warrior point of view but can work for healers and hybrids too.

I spent a fair bit of time at the mid-FD levels on the corrupt monks, over the bridge from the temple. They spawn at a reasonable rate and you can easily solo there, even with a warrior.

Great write up too. I'm looking forward to your next one.

Generally, you have to make a tradeoff between dungeon (CoF/VoH and later wt/mansion) passes and experience. Mobs that drop passes have approximately 20% more hp than non-pass mobs, and give slightly less exp per kill, but, there is the bonus of more valuable drops. If wealth is of concern, stay in death valley in Shizhang till about RL5 before moving into Datong, and leave Datong only around SM5, grinding in the valley of hell for VoH passes.
