Corrupt Elder Monks. An FD4 Grind.

Posted by RedCross in

I made it to level 64 today, FD4, and I needed a place to grind. I like to grind above my level when I can but that usually means I need a mob that doesn’t gang up too badly. Even with my high Dex build, I can’t take on 4 or 5 at a time for too long, even with a good set of buffs.

I’ve been interested in the Temple area of Datong for a while now, right in the center of the map. A couple of the Datong quests take you there on purpose, probably just to show you that it’s there. I wouldn’t normally grind in the first area beside the temple. That is a boss spawn spot, and I learned that lesson the hard way.

Across the bridge though, from that first mob area is a small cliff top that has a small number of Corrupt Elder Monks. They are at least level 65 and I now see them as yellow. There are only a few of them because it’s a small area, and they don’t really gang up on you. You can safely pick them off one or two at a time. With a good weapon and an HP return hat I can grind for over 20 minutes without needing to meditate. That’s pretty good for a warrior grinding on yellow mobs. Remember, warriors can’t heal themselves except by meditating.

The mob doesn’t spawn too quickly. It’s nice and steady, just the way I like a grind. I’ll probably do at least two levels here, and I probably wont need an awful lot of buffs to do it. When you really need to, you can run to the center of a bridge to meditate, but I didn’t need to do that today. I picked up almost 7% of experience in about 30 minutes. I’ll be back there again, probably for the next few days.
